Bed and Breakfast in Burgundy
The Hosts
The owners of the Burgundy villa are A French-speaking English couple, now retired from working in London, who offer just a single suite of rooms to friends and others on a paying-basis, more out of interest and occupation than as a means to income although that is appreciated as home-owning costs in France have risen since they arrived in 2002.
They take great pride in the appearance of the house and grounds
and
offer a discreet service not wishing to intrude but offering a
level of
service which they themselves would like when visiting
friends for
either an overnight stop or a week's relaxation.
They will offer advice, if asked, on what to do, where to visit and the
best routes, and walks and places to eat, and have all the maps,
guides and pamphlets one could ask for.
People who stay at the Burgundy Villa
Guests
We cater for anybody though have found that our most regular
clientele are middle-aged or older couples who want to walk, swim,
play tennis or just "chill-out"
without other people around.
Young couples, perhaps with a baby or young child, who want a break
in a nice house with a garden, pool, breakfast and friendly/helpful hosts, Couples and groups of friends that want to walk or cycle fairly
vigorously, and eat out and, perhaps, sample well-known French wines.
Also for a couple with up to three children looking to break their car
journey to the Mediterranean it's nice to have an en-suite room for the
children with an adjoining bathroom. This means there is no need to split up so
each parent is shareing a room with a child. plus the wall between the two
rooms is 2-ft thick so the parents need not be too quiet.
If you have any questions about staying in the villa then please contact us.
How to Get to the Villa
Directions
From Saulieu (on the D6 trunk road from Paris to Beaune) take the D980
going south, signed 'Lucenay l'Eveque' (a village after Chissey shown
on most maps).
After passing through 'Pierre Ecrit' (10 kms) and then 'Buis'
(another 8 kms) slow right down as the gates to the Villa are on a bend
just another kilometre on.
This bend is to the left and there are blue/white chevron markers on
the right side of the road. The blue/black gates to the Villa are on the left side of the road,
opposite these chevrons - you suddenly are there.
Stop - you are in sight of traffic coming from both directions - and
then turn left into the driveway (assuming the gates are open - ring to
ask for this some 30 minutes before).
(If you overshoot then go on, turn and come back past the entrance and
turn again. It is much easier and safer to turn into the gates coming
from Saulieu.)
